Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Getkapshn (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the Getkapshn website and app (the “Service”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) of Nepal and its regulations. If you use the Service from another country whose law gives you more rights, we will honour those rights too.

1. What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash; we can't read them. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, but not your Google password.
  • Your content: the video and audio files you upload, the transcripts and captions made from them, your edits, caption settings, the videos and subtitle files you export, and any fonts you upload.
  • Usage information: your plan, how many minutes you have transcribed and how many videos you have exported, so we can apply plan limits.
  • Sign-in and device information: when you sign in we record your IP address and browser type with your session, to keep you signed in, to protect your account and to limit abuse (for example, too many sign-in attempts).
  • Emails we send you: account confirmation and password reset messages. We don't send marketing email.

We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we don't sell your personal information.

2. Why we use it

  • To create and secure your account, and to confirm your email address.
  • To provide the Service: transcribe your media, show the editor and preview, and render your exports.
  • To apply plan limits and prevent abuse, such as fake accounts made to get extra free minutes.
  • To answer your questions and send messages you need, such as password resets.
  • To meet legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Service.

We don't use your content to train our own AI models, and we don't look at your content except when you ask us to (for example, to help with a problem), when it is needed to keep the Service secure, or when the law requires it.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the Service. They receive only what they need:

  • Google (Gemini API): the audio of your uploads is sent to Google's Gemini service to produce the transcript. We delete the copy we upload to Google once the transcript is made. Depending on the Gemini service tier we use, Google may keep and review this content and use it to improve its products, under the Gemini API terms. Don't upload media you aren't comfortable sharing on those terms.
  • Google (Sign-in and Fonts): if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google handles that sign-in. The editor and exports load caption fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser's IP address reaches Google when fonts load.
  • Hosting and storage: the servers that run the app, the database and the file storage that holds your uploads and exports.
  • Email delivery: the provider that sends our confirmation and password reset emails.

We may also disclose information if the law or a valid request from a court or authority requires it, or to protect people from harm. If Getkapshn is reorganised or sold, your information may move to the new owner, who must keep this policy's protections.

Some of these providers process information outside Nepal. When you use the Service you agree to that transfer; we choose providers that protect personal information.

4. How long we keep it

  • Your projects, transcripts, exports and fonts stay until you delete them or your account.
  • Deleting a project deletes its uploaded file, transcript and exports from our storage.
  • Uploads that never finish are deleted automatically after about 24 hours.
  • Your account details and usage records stay while your account exists. After you ask us to delete your account, we delete them and your content, except anything we must keep by law. Any copies in backups are removed when those backups expire.

5. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of. Blocking cookies will stop you from signing in.

6. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • see and change your projects, transcripts and fonts in the app, and delete them at any time;
  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong;
  • ask us to delete your account and everything in it;
  • withdraw your consent to processing, which in practice means closing your account.

Email [CONTACT EMAIL] from your account's email address. We will reply within 30 days and may need to confirm it's you first. If you aren't happy with our answer, you can complain to the relevant authority in Nepal or where you live.

7. Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, email confirmation, limits on repeated sign-in attempts, and access controls on our servers and storage. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

8. Children

The Service is for people aged 18 or over, or younger people using it with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision. If you believe a child has given us personal information without that permission, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
